This week we went on holiday to Cannes in the South of France. We were both desperate for a holiday and couldn't wait for some hot sun on our faces as the British Summer has just been non-stop rain so far. The flights were extortionate so we decided to drive yet again and the journey took 18 hours from start to finish. We drove through the night so that Dylan would sleep in the car and it was relatively successful, although we were both exhausted by the time we arrived in Cannes at 10am. We were unable to check into our apartment until 5pm so we explored the harbour, walked the prom, ate ice creams and sat in a street cafe to pass the time.
Our apartment was located about 35 minutes north of Cannes near a massive lake. It was in a 4 star complex with a large swimming pool split over two levels and a spa. We had booked a 1 bedroom apartment and were delighted to discover 2 bedrooms, although disappointed that there was no air conditioning as advertised. It was HOT!
We had a lovely week with excursions to various places every day. We spent a lot of time in Cannes, admired massive yachts in Antibes, drove to Monaco, went on a pedalo on the lake, sat on the beach, went swimming in the pool and spent a day at Marine Land which was amazing! Dylan loved seeing whales, dolphins, sharks, turtles, penguins, seals and plenty more.
The highlight of this holiday was finding out that I was pregnant, although little did we know our excitement would be short-lived. We were both surprised and excited about the prospect of a little brother or sister for Dylan. Oli very quickly became very attentive, carrying everything and constantly checking that I was OK and reminding me that I was pregnant. I was 4 weeks gone and we worked out the due date would be 14th February 2013 - Valentine's Day.
We returned to England with a lot to think about.
